Responding to the shortage of professional nurses in the area, the New York State<br />

LPN to RN Transition course creates a pathway to encourage Licensed Practical<br />

Nurses to advance in their careers. This course will facilitate your transition from the<br />

role of Practical Nurse to that of a student preparing for the role of Registered Nurse.<br />

It will validate your prior learning and update your knowledge, focusing on critical<br />

thinking and problem solving skills. Upon successful completion of this course, you<br />

will be eligible to earn a minimum of 12 credits in a participating Associate Degree<br />

Introduction to Infection Control<br />

New York State law requires all licensed health care professionals to receive training in<br />

infection control and barrier precautions every four years. If you are a licensed health care<br />

worker, this 2.5 hour NYS Education Department approved course will satisfy your licensure<br />

requirement and increase your knowledge of new drug resistant pathogens as well as<br />

occupational risks and current immunization practices for health care workers. You will also<br />

explore new strategies for infection prevention and control. For more information please<br />
