Promotion of Polish food
“Once again fairs have proved
that Polish agriculture perfectly
combines the current achievements,
tradition with modernity and
innovative approach”, Minister
Marek Sawicki said during
a conference summarizing this
year’s editions of fairs.
On the first day of the fairs minister also met
with farmers at the celebration of fifteenth anniversary
of Local Agricultural Self-Government
in Wielkopolska and “Wielkopolskie Święto
Wsi”. He announced that the next year has
been declared by the UN the year of cooperative.
“We need more integration and cooperation
in the processing
and sale of products.
150 years ago, it was
Wielkopolska which
was the stoolbed for
Polish cooperative.
I would like it also today
again to make
an effort in initiating
such activities. It
is very necessary for
us farmers”, appealed
Minister Sawicki.
When opening the Salon FLAVOURS OF THE
REGIONS, which is also a part of the agri-food
sector fairs, the Minister of Agriculture said:
“I want whole Europe to fall in love with what
is our most precious thing
– tasty and good for health
food of high quality. I will
strive for the future Common
Agricultural Policy
to allocate more funds to
support processing of the
products directly on the
farms and support their
sell on local markets”.
This year’s edition of PO-
LAGRA fairs attracted over
1200 exhibitors from 25
countries. Its offer presented,
as well as Polish, also
representatives of companies
from Austria, Italy, Slovenia,
the Czech Republic,
Spain, Switzerland, France,
Germany, Turkey, USA,
Great Britain, Belgium, Holland,
Canada, Bulgaria, Slovakia,
Denmark, Sweden,
Greece, Lithuania, Latvia,
Belarus, China, Sri Lanka
and Mexico. More than
100 new products were
presented, both food and
modern technologies for
the meat industry, refrigeration,
air conditioning, heating, general food
industry and packaging for the food industry.
Jubilee 25 th National Animal Breeding Exhibition
gathered nearly 2,000 specimens of animals, almost
all breeds of livestock and breeding. The
best specimens of: horses, beef and dairy cattle,
swine, sheep, goats, ducks and chickens, ostriches
and fur-bearing animals had been admired.
There were presented also bees, snails, fish and
animals of conservative Polish breeds, that is
breeds covered by the protection programs, conducted
by the National Research Institute of Animal
Production.
POLAGRA fairs were held in Poznań, for the
26 th time already. This is an event that each
year brings together agri-food industry and
industry co-operating with it. Another block of
fairs dedicated to food and food industry and
gastronomy, packaging and logistics will be
held on 8 th -11 th October 2012.
