Solina Lake – the largest artificial lake in Poland
hawks. The historic buildings in this area include
beautiful wooden orthodox churches –
relics of Boykos and Lemkos who used to live
here in the past. Bieszczady National Park is
inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Lake Solina situated at the edge of Bieszczady
is the largest artificial lake in Poland and a
perfect spot for sailing schools and practicing
water sports. A considerable number of tourist
routes, which should encourage tourists to
go on walking tours, have been marked up in
the region – the most interesting of them are
located in Bieszczady. Bicycle routes of varied
length and difficulty level also cover large areas
of the region. Horse tourism is becoming ever
more popular in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship.
Tourists planning to travel to Podkarpacie are
also recommended to visit Łańcut. It is one of
the most beautiful aristocratic residencies in Poland
built in the first half of the 17 th century. The
palace was owned by the Lubomirski and Potocki
families. A magnificent Ballroom,
court theatre, Columned
Salon and Mirror Cabinet are a
few of the rooms that may be
admired there. The residence
includes also an orangery and
the Carriage Museum.
Sacred and lay buildings, whose construction
is distinguished by the influence of the Latin and
byzantine style and reflects the long lasting presence
of people of Jew origin on this territory, are
another show place of the region. A tourist route
covering wooden temples, palaces and courts,
which leads through 175 towns.

prove their multicultural past. This concerns
particularly Przemyśl, which is nowadays situated
in a near vicinity of the Ukrainian border.
In Przemyśl it is recommended
to visit the Assumption of the
Blessed Virgin Mary and St. John
the Baptist Cathedral with traces
of its gothic, baroque and Art
Nouveau past. The Castle in Przemyśl
was built in the middle of
the 14 th century by king Casmir III
the Great on the Castle Hill towering
over the city. Its courtyard
serves as a place of exposition for
the relicts of a rotunda and a palatium
– buildings dating back to
the reign of Bolesław I Chrobry.
Fundamentally rebuilt in the 16 th
century in a renaissance style,
the palace encompasses within its walls e.g. the
theatre room of the Aleksander Fredro Dramatic
Society – the oldest amateur
theatre in Poland. The historic
Clock Tower presents a view
of the over 1000 year old Przemyśl
and its surroundings.
The Podkarpackie Voivodeship
area includes also 10
landscape parks, 17 natural parks and 71 nature
reserves. An increasing number of agritourism
farms, conditions for growing organic
food and, above all, wonderful environmental
conditions make this region a world class tourist
centre.
