Georgetown University<br />

The <strong>National</strong> <strong>Italian</strong> <strong>American</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong> is proud to support the 2011 Distinguished<br />
Fulbright Chair of <strong>Italian</strong> Studies at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.<br />
Dr. Daniele Checchi is the dean of the School of Political Science at the University of<br />
Milan and a Full Professor of Political Economy at the Department of Economics, also at<br />
the University of Milan.<br />
He has been a research fellow of the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) in Bonn,<br />
Germany, since 2003, and served as a scientific director of the Work Training and Welfare<br />
Research Center of the University of Milan. He is a member of the E.E.A. (European<br />
Association of Economists), E.A.E.P.E (European Association of Labor Economists) and<br />
s.A.S.E (Society of the Advancement of Socioeconomics).<br />
Dr. Checchi holds a degree in Economics from Bocconi University in Milan, a Master of<br />
Science degree in Economics from the London School of Economics, and a Doctorate of<br />
Philosophy in Economics from the University of Siena, Italy. He has published a number<br />
of books on economic theory and education and has been published in numerous international<br />
economic journals.<br />
He is currently the Distinguished Fulbright Chair at Georgetown University in a joint<br />
program sponsored by BMW Center for German and European Studies, Georgetown<br />
University’s <strong>Italian</strong> Department, and the <strong>National</strong> <strong>Italian</strong> <strong>American</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong>, through<br />
which he is teaching the following courses: “Italy and the Idea of Europe” and “Institutional<br />
Differences Between Europe and the U.s.”<br />
