The National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame

Located in the heart of Chicago’s Little Italy, The National Italian American
Sports Hall of Fame (NIASHF) features a collection of priceless sports
memorabilia, including include Mario Andretti's Indy 500 racecar, Rocky
Marciano's first heavyweight championship belt, Vince Lombardi's last coat worn as
coach of the Green Bay Packers and swimmer Matt Biondi's Olympic Gold Medals.
More than 200 inductees are enshrined in the Sports Hall of Fame, which highlights the positive
accomplishments of Italian American athletes. But the Hall of Fame offers much more than historical
exhibits. To date, the organization has raised more than $6 million for scholarships and charitable causes.
And its new facility was dedicated
in 2000 as "The Jerry Colangelo
Center,” named after NIASHF
Building Fund Chairman Jerry
Colangelo, who also serves as
NIAF’s Chairman.
NIAF is proud to partner with
the National Italian American
Sports Hall of Fame on a number
of initiatives to educate the public
about the achievements of Italian
Americans in sports and the special
role that athletics have played in
our heritage. NIAF programs at the
NIASHF have featured president
of the Chicago Blackhawks John
McDonough, in addition to
NIAF’s own Jerry Colangelo.
Several NIAF functions this year
have featured NIASHF spokesman
Mike Piazza and NIASHF Founder
George Randazzo.
