Foundation Grant in Translating
—
Sonia Raiziss Giop, a German native, was a celebrated writer, poet
and magazine editor. Through her bequest and creation of the
Sonia Raiziss Giop Charitable Foundation, NIAF is able to help
fund poetry translation efforts in order to continue to share literary
works across cultural boundaries, including Italian literature and poetry.
The Giop Foundation also provides an annual fellowship with residency to the
American Academy in Rome for the winner of the Poetry Prize Raiziss/de Palchi for
translating works of Italian poetry into English. The Raiziss/de Palchi Poetry Prize
