Schedule 3 – Miscellaneous Amendments to the Australian Code for<br />

the <strong>Transport</strong> of Dangerous Goods by Road & Rail, seventh<br />

edition<br />

1. Document being amended by this Schedule<br />

This Schedule amends the Australian Code for the <strong>Transport</strong> of Dangerous Goods by<br />

Road & Rail, seventh edition.<br />

the Code that incorporates the amendments made by this Schedule. The amendments are shown<br />

in blue text in that document.]<br />

2. Definition of articles<br />

In 1.2.1.1, after the definition of Animal material insert –<br />

"Article means a manufactured item, other than a fluid or particle, that –<br />

(a) is formed into a particular shape or design during manufacture; and<br />

(b) has hazard properties and a function that are wholly or partly dependent on the<br />

shape or design –<br />

and includes automotive and marine batteries and other large batteries such as those<br />

used in telecommunications facilities;".<br />

3. Change to term used for transport units<br />

(1) In 1.2.1.1, after the definition of Capacity insert –<br />

"Cargo transport unit (see 1.2.1.2.2A);".<br />

(2) After 1.2.1.2.2 insert –<br />

"1.2.1.2.2A Cargo <strong>Transport</strong> Unit – (Regulation 1.2.13)<br />

A cargo transport unit includes:<br />

(a) a road transport tank or freight vehicle; or<br />

(b) a railway transport tank or freight wagon; or<br />

(c) a portable tank; or<br />

(d) a bulk container; or<br />

(e) a freight container; or<br />

(f) a MEGC.".<br />

(3) Omit 1.2.1.2.16.<br />

(4) In the Code, before "transport unit" (wherever occurring) insert "cargo".<br />
