Custom Processes Custom Processes The Ocean API lets you create custom processes. For example, a custom process might upscale log values into a pillar grid property using an algorithm not currently available within Petrel. Fig. 6-49 Custom Processes in the Process Diagram You must write the custom UI, all UI interactions, and any algorithm your process needs. Ocean integrates your process into Petrel and displays its name in the Process diagram. A custom process must provide a custom user interface. You build your custom UI from .NET or third party controls. The user interface can be as simple or complex as your process dictates. Custom Processes The custom process will add a new toolbar tool when it is activated and remove the toolbar tool when it is deactivated. This process does not have an algorithmic part. In our process example, we will cover: • Using a custom UI • Process activation and deactivation • Adding your process to Petrel We will not cover the details of the UI interactions. It uses the Ocean Petrel UI domain extensively and is not important to understand processes. How to Write a Process There are seven steps to writing an Ocean Process. 1 Inherit from the process base class. 2 Optionally define your presentation: icon and name. 3 Create your custom user interface. 4 Optionally handle process activation/deactivation. 5 Optionally handle window modes. 6 Implement persistence.
