Case Details:
Victim Jebamani is a resident of Kumarapuram and belongs to the Scheduled Caste Christian Sambavar
Community. On 25 th December 2007, while the victim was waiting in the bus stand to receive his nephew
he was arrested by two police constables who were there on patrol duty. Jebamani had come to the bus
stand in a borrowed two-wheeler. The police officials took him to Vadaseri Police Station on suspicious
grounds and took hold of the key of the vehicle, his mobile and a cash of Rs.200. The victim was also hit
with a four feet long baton on his back, arms and legs. The constables left the police station in the morning
leaving Jebamani alone. He was let free after the intervention of his employer. The Inspector let him go
advising him not to roam about in the bus stand during late hours, and returned him mobile and key.

Case Details:
Victim G.M. Anthony is an agricultural labour residing in Alangulam; and belongs to
the Christian Pallar Community. The victim is also the Branch Coordinator of DMK
Party in the area. On 12 th January 2006 Anthony and his family members went to the
town for purchasing garments. As they were waiting at Alangulam Bus Stand to cross
the road, a car coming from the east stopped before him. The person inside the car
began to yell abuses at the victim, and Anthony retorted back. The person happened
to be Inspector Sagayajose of Alangulam Police Station. Though the victim apologized
with him for talking back, he was taken to the police station and tortured. The Inspector
asked if he had the habit of drinking and catching hold of his shirt collar he slapped
Anthony on his left ear, and kicked on his stomach with a shod foot. The victim fell
unconscious and a constable made him kneel down. Finally Anthony was released
after getting him signed in a written statement, and asked to apologize with the
Inspector. Following this he was admitted in the GH. Still the victim is suffering pain in
his ears and stomach.
