Case Details:
The victim Shivanna was a resident of Shanthalli village. On 9 May 2008, his relative Ramu, Kushala
have gone to his house. They have consumed liquor and have spoken in a loud voice. The villagers
have misunderstood them. They have given a complaint at the Out Post stating that the victim Shivana
and his relatives were fighting with each other. Based on the complaint, the police have gone to the spot
and started beating them with batons. The victim and his relatives who tried to escape from the police
were also beaten. The victim Shivappa had sustained injuries on his hands and legs. He had suffered
physically and mentally due to the police assault.

Case Details:
The victim Siddamma was a resident of Kamaragalli village. She along with few other women has
started chit fund business to save money and utilize it during emergency situations. One of the members
named Sarojamma had demanded her money back. A meeting was conducted in the village on 3
February, 2008 in which Sarojamma had taken her relative named Lakeshmengowda, who was a
police constable. At the meeting, it was decided that a sum of Rs 2300 should be deducted from
Sarojamma. But Sarojamma did not agree with them. She demanded the whole amount. Thereafter
Lakshmengowda abused the victim Siddamma and others with filthy words. Then he had assaulted her
on her hands and shoulders and pushed her to the ground.
