october 29, 1981 To Whqn ft May Concern: It has come to our attention by the manufacturer of the FXC Model 12000 that when the FXc l2O0O ls installed in a piggyback system, harnes.s flering/elongation is being erperienced which can cause the hose to stretch and to possibly cause a premature actuation when above the altltude aetcing. Please read the attached letter from the manufacturer very carefully and completely. If you find that you or your customer is erperiencing this situation, please comply with the enclosed instructions regarding the modification. ff you have any questions, please contact our office or the manufacturer directly. California 92704 (714) 5s6-7400 Twx910-s95-2801 Model 12000 Installation on Piggyback Harness & container Systems Notification Bulletin As parachuting/free-fall techniques and equipment have grown trl sophistication, a situation has been identified and brought to the attention of FXC Corporation. The hodel l20OO, when originally mounted on chest-type reserves' did nor experience any altitude or Premature actuations. But when installed in a pigqyback system, harness flexing/elongation is being experienced which can cause the hose to stretch arrd to possib'ly cause a premature actuation when above the altitude setting. To ensure that this problem does nor occur, the hose must be allowed to move freely. The use of loops to secure the hose to the harness is recorunended rather than excessive tacking: If your harness/opener could posslbly experience a stretch sltuation, a new hose assembly ls strongly recommended, which is 2 inches longer. This must be accomplished at FXC Corporation for a cost of $35.00 which includes rhe normal calibration testing ($25.00) plus the new hose assembly, 510.00. Please mail prepaid and the opener will be returned f reight col'l ect. For international customers,send air parcel post only and do not claim the value above 5250.00 U.S.,for custom duties purposes. Othervise any additional cos^us for customers will be added to the repair charges.
