The COP shall cooperate closely with the appropriate bodies of the<br />
Basel<str<strong>on</strong>g>C<strong>on</strong>venti<strong>on</strong></str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>on</strong> the C<strong>on</strong>trol ofTransboundary Movements of<br />
Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal to, inter alia:<br />
1. Destructi<strong>on</strong> Efficiency ofdisposal technologies<br />
Establish levels of destructi<strong>on</strong> and irreversible transformati<strong>on</strong> necessary to ensure<br />
that the characteristicsof POPs as specified in paragraph 1 of Annex D are not<br />
exhibited.<br />
2. Methods for envir<strong>on</strong>mentally sound disposal<br />
Determine what they c<strong>on</strong>sider to be the methods that c<strong>on</strong>stitute envir<strong>on</strong>mentally<br />
sound disposal referred to above; and<br />
3. Low POP C<strong>on</strong>tent<br />
Work to establish, as appropriate, the c<strong>on</strong>centrati<strong>on</strong> levels of the chemicalslisted<br />
in Annexes A, B, C in order to define the low POP c<strong>on</strong>tent referred to in<br />
paragraph 1 d ii<br />
