C. El sábado yo fui a mi primer
juego de fúfbol. Era fúfbol
americano, no soccer. El juego
comenzó a las 2:00 y terminó a
las 4:30.
Nota: Soccer = fúfbol latinoamericano.
El gran estadio de la Universidad
estaba lleno. Había 60,000
personas allí. Algunos se fueron a
pie al estadio, otros fueron en el
autobús, y otros manejaron.
El tiempo estuvo bueno esa tarde;
no estaba nublado y no había
mucho viento. Fue un día bello de
otoño.
Cada equipo tenía once hombres
en el campo. Cada equipo
defendía su propia meta. Cada
equipo también trataba de cruzar
la otra meta con la pelota, y a
veces la pateaban. El juego fue
muy emocionante. Pero, ¿cuándo
corren?, ¿cuándo tiran la pelota?
y ¿cuándo la patean? Yo no
entiendo todas las reglas del juego.
Hay dos mitades en un juego de
fúfbol. En la primera mitad,
nuestro equipo cruzó la otra meta
una vez y metió un gol. El otro
equipo metió dos goles. La banda
tocó entre las mitades, y nosotros
gritamos por nuestro equipo.
Durante la segunda mitad,
nosotros metimos otro gol, y
luego, otro. La anotación final fue
21 a 14. Por supuesto, nosotros
estábamos muy felices porque
ganamos el juego.
C. Last Saturday I went to my first
football game. It was American
football, not soccer. The game
started at two o‘clock and ended

The big college stadium was full.
There were sixty thousand people
there. Some people walked to the
stadium, some went on the bus,
and others drove.
The weather was fine that
afternoon; it wasn‘t cloudy, and it
wasn‘t windy. It was a beautiful fall
day.
Each team had eleven men on the
field. Each team defended its own
goal. Each team also tried to cross
the other goal line with the ball,
and sometimes they kicked it. The
game was very exciting. But,
When do they run? When do they
throw the ball? And When do they
kick the ball? I don‘t understand
all the rules of the game.
There are two halves in a football
game. In the first half, our team
crossed the other goal line and
made a touchdown. The other
team made two touchdown. The
band played between the halves,
and we cheered for our team.
During the second half, we made
another touchdown, and then,
another. The final score was 21 to
14. Of course, we were very
happy because we won the
game.
Las impresiones de Tomás
A los americanos les gusta el deporte
muchísimo. En el otoño, el deporte
popular es el fútbol. Todas las escuelas
secundarias y universidades
tienen sus equipos. Los muchachos
de los equipos practican después de
la escuela todos los días. Los juegos
con otras escuelas corrientemente
son los sábados por la tarde. Miles de
personas, jóvenes y viejas, miran
estos juegos de fúfbol en septiembre,
octubre y noviembre.
En el invierno, el deporte popular es
básketbol. Hay corrientemente un
juego cada viernes por la noche en el

the fall, the popular sport is football.
All the High Schools and Universities
have their teams. The boys on the
teams practice after school every day.
The games with other schools are
usually on Saturday afternoons.
Thousands of people, young and
old, watch these football games in
September, October, and
November.
In the winter, the popular sport is
basketball. There‘s usually a game
every Friday night in one school
