D. La Sra. Dawson tiene un hermano
en Nueva York. Él se trasladó allá
hace un año. Su nombre es
Santiago Smith, pero su familia le
llama Jim. En Febrero de este año,
él vino a visitar a los Dawson.
Ellos estaban contentos de verle
de nuevo, y le hicieron muchas
preguntas acerca de Nueva York.
Sra. D: ¿Ha habido frío en Nueva York?
Jim: Sí, ha habido. Pero nunca es tan
frío como es aquí. Y no hemos
tenido mucha nieve este invierno.
D. Mrs. Dawson has a brother in New
York. He moved there a year ago.
His name is James Smith, but his
family call him Jim. In February
this year, he came to visit the
Dawsons. They were glad to see
him again, and they asked him
many questions about New
York.
Mrs. D: Has it been cold in New York?
Jim: Yes, it has. But it‘s never as
cold as it is here. And we haven‘t
had much snow this winter.
Sr. D: ¿Ha visto muchas exhibiciones?
Mr. D:
Have you seen many shows?
Jim: Sí, yo he visto varias comedias y
dos operetas. (comedia musical)
Sra. D: ¿Eran buenas? ¿Le gustaron?
Jim: Sí, pero las comedias fueron
más interesantes que las operetas.
Una comedia fue muy divertida;
las otras fueron más serias.
Ana: A mí me gustaría mejor una opereta
que una comedia, creo. Yo he oído

tambien. Nosotros nunca hemos
estado en la Casa Metropolitana
de Ópera en el nuevo Centro Lincoln.
Sr. D: Pero nosotros frecuentemente
oímos las transmisiones de allí el
sábado.
Jim: Yes, I‘ve seen several plays
and two musical comedies.
Mrs. D: Were they good? Did you like
them?
Jim: Yes, but the plays were more
interesting than the musicals.
One play was very funny; the
others were more serious.
Ann: I‘d like a musical better than a
play, I think. I‘ve heard a lot of
songs from the new shows.
Mr. D: We want to go to New York in
March or April. Is it hard to get
theater tickets?
Jim: Yes it is. People often get
them weeks in advance.
Mrs. D: Is it easier to get seats
downstairs than in the balcony?
Jim: Sometimes. They‘re expensive
downstairs, and more people
prefer the cheaper seats in the
balcony.
Mr. D: Perhaps you can get some
tickets for us.
Jim: I‘d be glad to. I‘m near the
theater district every day.
Mrs. D: We‘d like to see an opera, too.
We‘ve never been to the
Metropolitan Opera House at
the Lincoln Center.
Mr. D: But we often hear the broadcasts
from there on Saturday.
