With his re-election to the <strong>Supreme</strong> <strong>Court</strong>, Justice<br />
Terrence O’Donnell brings more than 25 years <strong>of</strong> judicial<br />
service to the state judiciary, having served on the court<br />
<strong>of</strong> appeals and the <strong>Court</strong> <strong>of</strong> Common Pleas for Cuyahoga<br />
County.<br />
Justice O’Donnell began his legal career as a law clerk<br />
to Justice J.J.P. Corrigan <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Supreme</strong> <strong>Court</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Ohio</strong><br />
in 1971; he also clerked for Judges John V. Corrigan and<br />
John M. Manos on the 8 th District <strong>Court</strong> <strong>of</strong> Appeals in<br />
Cuyahoga County, where he later served as an appellate<br />
judge for eight years. He previously served as a judge on<br />
the Cuyahoga County <strong>Court</strong> <strong>of</strong> Common Pleas for 14<br />
years.<br />
Justice O’Donnell has been honored by every school<br />
and university he attended. St. Edward High School<br />
presented him with its Alumnus <strong>of</strong> the Year Award<br />
in 2005, Kent <strong>State</strong> University recognized him as an<br />
outstanding arts and sciences graduate, and Cleveland<br />
<strong>State</strong> University has awarded him with its Distinguished<br />
Alumni Award. In addition, the University <strong>of</strong> Akron has<br />
conferred an honorary doctor <strong>of</strong> law upon him.<br />
Justice O’Donnell resides in Rocky River with his wife,<br />
Mary Beth. They have four adult children — Terrence,<br />
Michael, and Colleen, all <strong>of</strong> whom are attorneys; and<br />
Nora, an English teacher at St. Ignatius High School.<br />
Justice Judith Ann Lanzinger, before her 2004 election as<br />
the 150 th member <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Supreme</strong> <strong>Court</strong>, served at every<br />
other level <strong>of</strong> <strong>Ohio</strong>’s judiciary — the 6 th District <strong>Court</strong><br />
<strong>of</strong> Appeals, Lucas County <strong>Court</strong> <strong>of</strong> Common Pleas and<br />
Toledo Municipal <strong>Court</strong>. A former teacher, she was the<br />
second woman in the United <strong>State</strong>s to earn a master’s<br />
degree in judicial studies. Since 1990, she has taught<br />
judges at the National Judicial College in the U.S. and the<br />
former Soviet Union, and is an adjunct pr<strong>of</strong>essor at the<br />
University <strong>of</strong> Toledo’s law school.<br />
Committed to the improvement <strong>of</strong> justice, Justice<br />
Lanzinger now chairs the Commission on the Rules<br />
<strong>of</strong> Superintendence for <strong>Ohio</strong> <strong>Court</strong>s, previously<br />
participating on many statewide committees. She also was<br />
president <strong>of</strong> the Morrison Waite American Inn <strong>of</strong> <strong>Court</strong><br />
and the Toledo Junior Bar Association.<br />
The Justice and her husband, Robert, have a<br />
daughter, son, and son-in-law, all attorneys, and three<br />
grandchildren.
