1924 Essex Model B - 2-Pass. Special Roadster
This was a special Essex six cylinder built for Roscoe B. Jackson. 1924 saw the last of the Essex 4 cylinder cars and
the intro of a 6 cylinder model with a bore and stroke of 2-5/8 x 4" for 129.8 CID. This engine would be bored and stroked
over the years finally evolving into the 3 x 5" 212 CID motor used thru the 1947 models.
However, as designed, it was found the new Essex 6 was sadly deficient in power and stamina and at 2nd Model serial
number 152465 an improved version with a bore and stroke of 2-11/16 x 4-1/4" for 144.5 CID was introduced.
Serial numbers for the Model A four cylinder cars started at 100001 and for the six cylinder at 100000. Second Model
6's came out on Jun 23, 1924 with serial numbers 144376 to 178366.
