c) Elections will be conducted by the Board Liaison or his/her designate during the<br />

April Zone U.I.C. /U.D.C. meeting.<br />

- All currently registered umpires in <strong>Saskatchewan</strong> are eligible to vote.<br />

- The Zone Board Liaison Laison or his/her designate will chair proceedings and will select (2)<br />

people to count ballots. If there is a tie for one of the elected positions the<br />

<strong>Softball</strong> <strong>Saskatchewan</strong> Board of Director’s will appoint a person to the position.<br />

2. Zone U.I.C.<br />

a) The U.I.C. in consultation with the Zone Director shall appoint the respective<br />

Zone U.I.C. In the event it cannot be resolved, the decision will be made by the<br />

Board of Directors.<br />

b) Term of office shall be unlimited.<br />

Section 5: Registration<br />

1. <strong>Softball</strong> <strong>Saskatchewan</strong> Registration:<br />

a. Attend a Provincial umpire clinic yearly and pay the necessary registration fee<br />

set by <strong>Softball</strong> <strong>Saskatchewan</strong>, or utilise the Mail-In Registration. (Must be a<br />

registered <strong>Softball</strong> <strong>Saskatchewan</strong> Umpire to work Pre-Provincial or Provincial<br />

Final Playoffs)<br />

b. All Sask. umpires must register with <strong>Softball</strong> Canada by paying the required<br />

National Fee (except: Grassroots umpires)<br />

c. Those attending Western or Canadians must attend an Umpire Clinic.<br />

Definitions:<br />

Active Umpires: An umpire who renews their certification and passes all<br />

requirements<br />

All new Level I umpires and umpires moving up a level must purchase a manual.<br />

Umpires moving up a level must purchase a manual at the next level. The cost of the<br />

manuals will be:<br />

Level I & II - $21.00 Level III - $26.00 Level IV - $30.00<br />

3. Certification Levels<br />

Grassroots: Individuals must be a minimum of twelve (12) years of age to register as<br />

a Grassroots umpire. Adults nineteen (19) years of age and older may register as a<br />

Grassroots umpire for one year after which they must register as a Level I umpire.<br />

Grassroots umpires may be assigned to Provincial Championships.<br />

Retired: Umpires retired from the work force, may:<br />
