<strong>Told</strong> <strong>by</strong> <strong>the</strong> Pioneers<br />
a vessel <strong>of</strong> that nation had been wrecked not long since. There is still<br />
one amongst <strong>the</strong> Indians inland but a promise was made <strong>of</strong> getting<br />
<strong>the</strong> poor fellow on <strong>the</strong> coast <strong>by</strong> <strong>the</strong> time <strong>the</strong> Lama gets <strong>the</strong>re. The<br />
Captain says he had a fair voyage from <strong>the</strong> Columbia. Clowdy<br />
wea<strong>the</strong>r.<br />
10th. Tuesday. '1'he men bus'- as usual. The Lama now anchored<br />
opposite <strong>the</strong> r~ad and preparations made for <strong>the</strong> Cargo and Cattle.<br />
The lndialls are now poring upon us. Today it rained.<br />
11 th \Vednesdav. All <strong>the</strong> outfit safelv landed and received in store<br />

1he cattle were also got. They are very wild and wicked one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
cows wounded one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> men (Brown) and nearly killed a couple<br />
more. The cattle received are three cows with <strong>the</strong>ir calves and a bull.<br />
It railled at intelTals.<br />
12th. Thursday. The men kept at co"ering <strong>the</strong> store. Gave out<br />
1he maw, pri,'ute orders. The Lama has in five horses for Fort Lang<br />
Jey \\'here she is to go next. Charitable donations given us <strong>by</strong> Captain<br />
::\lcSeile <strong>of</strong> great use, sa~', a couple Iron Pins for our wagons and about<br />
one fathom <strong>of</strong> Bower Cable (Chain). The Lama has taken in more<br />

17th. Tuesday. Plamondon with man Louis began working at <strong>the</strong><br />
wood for <strong>the</strong> new dwelling house. Brown was also assisting <strong>the</strong>m.<br />

18th. \Vednesday. The same work for <strong>the</strong> men excepting McDon<br />
[dd who I ha"e ordered Home for going to Vancouver with Letters.<br />
Indians keep going and coming for <strong>the</strong> sake <strong>of</strong> trade. The wea<strong>the</strong>r<br />
fair.<br />
19th. Thursday. Xa change in <strong>the</strong> duties <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> place.<br />
