<strong>Told</strong> <strong>by</strong> <strong>the</strong> Pioneers<br />
said that fear made him come here instead <strong>of</strong> going to <strong>the</strong> Chinooks<br />
from him we got 10 beaver skins and a couple <strong>of</strong> otters. Fine clear<br />
wea<strong>the</strong>r but warm.<br />
20th. Sunday. The Chickalitz Indians and family <strong>of</strong>f. Plamondan's<br />
wife has been unwell some time, and all her care is to give away<br />
property to Indian Doctors for curing her, though at times she applys<br />
to me for medicine which are given but <strong>the</strong> relief she gets is attributed<br />
to her doctors. Fair wea<strong>the</strong>r.<br />
21st. ~londay. PlomOlldon, Louis, and Anuwiskum were employed<br />
at <strong>the</strong> floor <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Gentlemen house. Ouvre and McKee plastering <strong>the</strong><br />
Indian house. Traded five beaver from a couple Indians who are from<br />
<strong>the</strong> Too and Noo tribe. The wea<strong>the</strong>r dowdy.<br />
22nd. Tuesday. Plomondon and Louis arranging <strong>the</strong> floor above<br />
stated Anuwiskum squaring wood for <strong>the</strong> floor <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Indian house.<br />
Ouvre and McKee still plastering. Got <strong>the</strong> meat <strong>of</strong> an animal and a<br />
couple <strong>of</strong> chivon skins from an Indian <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> :Mount Reneir. Many <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> natives about us are living on berries which are numerous. Fair<br />
wea<strong>the</strong>r.<br />
23rd. \Vednesday. The same employment for <strong>the</strong> men. Late in <strong>the</strong><br />
forenoon Pierre Charles and party arrived from Vancouver with <strong>the</strong><br />
small request from that place. I am informed <strong>by</strong> :Mr. Chief Factor<br />
:McLaughlin that <strong>the</strong> furs sent were returned to his place in good order.<br />
The ague thought not severe and all is well. Very warm wea<strong>the</strong>r.<br />
24th. Thursday. Began flooring <strong>the</strong> Indians hall which work is<br />
done bv McKee and Ouvre. Laves on <strong>the</strong> sick list. Fair 'Vea<strong>the</strong>r.<br />

Friday 25th. The Indian hall finished. Men as usually employed<br />
about <strong>the</strong> place. Traded a few skins. Laahlette arrived from <strong>the</strong><br />
Yackmus and says that <strong>the</strong> Brigade passed up <strong>the</strong> river seven nights<br />
ago. The wea<strong>the</strong>r continues warm.<br />
26th Saturday. ,Ve this day completed<br />
house which is attached to <strong>the</strong> Indian hall.<br />

27th. Sundav. This day observed as usual. Fair wea<strong>the</strong>r.<br />

28th. Monday. Plamondon and Louis working about <strong>the</strong> new dwelling<br />
house. Pierre Charles has been out getting wood for a couple<br />
ploughs. McDonald, Bourgean and Brown were employed at squar<br />
.ing wood for <strong>the</strong> men's houses. John McKee and Ouvre doing sundry<br />
jobs about <strong>the</strong> fort. The wea<strong>the</strong>r much <strong>the</strong> same.<br />
29th. Tuesday. The peas being ripe five <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> men were put at<br />
