FADE IN...
At the recent CineAsia gathering, a top-three
circuit exec told us that, while some publications
seem to be for advertisers, our magazine is for
readers. At initial hearing, I that as a compliment
to our efforts to always put our subscribers'
knowledge needs first. Which it surely is.
But then I thought, wait a second—a publication
that is editorially driven (i.e. for the readers)
is exactly the best vehicle for advertisers,
because it's just that type of magazine that is
actually, even avidly read by the readers—and
thus the best vehicle for advertisers who want to
know their marketing messages are being seen.
Make no mistake; we appreciate our advertiser
support. In their support, and as an aid to
readers desiring rapid product information, in
this issue we launch yet another new offering: a
much-expanded Advertisers Index, giving not
only company name and ad-page number but
also mailing address, phone and fax, email and
web url, and the person to contact. This information
will also be posted each month on our
website, where a simple click will launch an
email preaddressed to reach the appropriate
party at each firm advertising in that issue.
It's just one part of our new-and-improved
www.boxoffice.com, relaunching March 1, in
time for ShoWest and our daily convention coverage.
And look for us to continue our expansion
of BOXOFFICE ONLINE, the digital desktop of
the exhibition industry. Kim Williamson
