✦ Pose questions and formulate propositions<br />

✦ Represent and interpret concepts and relationships<br />

✦ Analyse situations, describe the mathematical concepts,<br />

and use efficient procedures to solve problems<br />

✦ Make deductions, generalise and verify solutions<br />

✦ Make logical use of mathematical language<br />

✦ Make predictions, solve problems and reflect on solutions<br />

✦ Either supervised school activities or as unsupervised outof-class<br />

activities<br />

✦ Computer software and graphics calculators integrated into<br />

the course where appropriate<br />

Assessment<br />

A variety of assessment techniques will be used and might<br />

include:<br />

✦ Two supervised tests per semester<br />

✦ One extended modelling and problem-solving tasks or<br />

assignment per semester<br />

Expectations<br />

Throughout the course, students will be exposed to a variety<br />

of learning experiences to help them achieve the general<br />

objectives. These learning experiences will also incorporate<br />

the contexts of application, technology, initiative and<br />

complexity. In general these terms include:<br />

✦ Traditional methods of exposition, reinforcement and<br />

discussion<br />

✦ Investigations<br />

✦ Individual and group work requiring research. Problem<br />

solving and modelling<br />
