Aside from her natural talent and elements that she has somehow managed to weave into her handbags. Barbra is certainly one of the hottest new talents in the fashion industry, and is certainly one to watch. Tarisai Maringire caught up with the handbag designer to get the lowdown on her career. . ? I am a 23 year old spoken word artist, writer and designer. I am an aspiring events manager and workshop facilitator interested in community projects. – ? I was always a designer, I was knitting and sewing most of my childhood and my interest in bags got me into design. ? priority and urgency on each and every thing I do. Yes it was tough and it still is, I am doing everything from sourcing fabric, marketing, to design and the work gets a little hectic. I cope because I am an organizer by profession and I know how to juggle everything. ? The challenges are still there but at least l now know what is expected of me, what my business needs and what I need to provide. I did not have the knowledge before and it gets better as I get into the business more. ? I have realized that my market is from teens to mature ladies. I have hip bags, sling bags, shoulder bags, laptop pouches and clutch bags. ? I work with thick durable fabrics like hessian, netting, thick suiting, mandy, java and batiks. ? Handmade patterned fabric bags. The line is unique because of its love for detail, pattern combination and its key interest in recycling. ? I taught myself and analysed each and every bag I laid my eyes on. ? ? Aame creations means African and modern me. The name came from a poem I wrote and it inspired me to pursue my passion further. ? As authentic and original products that have both comfort and style. ? The main inspiration behind my bags is my poetry and the fact that whatever I put my mind to I can do. The bags are a constant inspiration for me as a person, especially in realizing my capabilities. , ? Kerry Washington, that woman is self driven and I admire that.
