<strong>Swinburne</strong>’s research vision is “to be regarded both<br />
nationally and internationally as a respected researchintensive<br />
<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Technology</strong>, excelling in research<br />
We will scale up the levels <strong>of</strong> research activity in all<br />
Schools and Institutes in the Higher Education Division so<br />
outcomes in our chosen areas <strong>of</strong> concentration, in which<br />
that the Division becomes truly research intensive.<br />

The Australasian Housing Information Network (AHIN) is a<br />
joint project between <strong>Swinburne</strong> Institute for Social<br />
Research and InfoXchange Australia. AHIN is a coordinated<br />
and standardised system for accessing housing information<br />
on a Regional, National, State and Territory basis. It<br />
provides:<br />
■ a ‘one stop shop’ to linked information on housing issues<br />
and trends, housing markets, the housing industry,<br />
housing agencies, their pr<strong>of</strong>iles and procedures<br />
■ access to a store <strong>of</strong> housing and urban\research, data<br />
and publications<br />
■ links to key local, national, regional and international<br />
housing web sites and resources<br />
■ information for organisations in Australia, New Zealand<br />
and overseas, according to sector <strong>of</strong> interest and<br />
expertise<br />
■ a network for international searches on Australasian<br />
housing issues.<br />
The Directors <strong>of</strong> The Asia-Pacific Centre for Philanthropy<br />
and Social Investment (APCPSI) joined the Institute for<br />
Social Research Advisory Committee in 2002. The APCPSI<br />
conducts pr<strong>of</strong>essional education programs, undertakes<br />
research, and provides consulting services for individuals,<br />
families and corporations who are interested in<br />
philanthropy, social investment and grant making. Following<br />
very successful launches in both Melbourne and Sydney, a<br />
