ANNUAL REPORT - EASTERN REGION<br />
The activities undertaken by CGWWA in the eastern region from 30 Nov 06 till date are as follows:<br />
CGWWA ACTIVITIES AT CHENNAI<br />
In Nov 06, a magic show was conducted for all <strong>Coast</strong> <strong>Guard</strong> children at OTA Audi<strong>to</strong>rium on<br />
Children’s Day. Gifts were given <strong>to</strong> the children. Scholarships were awarded <strong>to</strong> the meri<strong>to</strong>rious children<br />
of classes V <strong>to</strong> XII.<br />
A picnic was organized for all the ladies on the occasion of Tatrakshika Day. Urmi magazine was<br />
also released on that day.<br />
Singer Diploma Certificates were awarded <strong>to</strong> five (05) ladies who successfully completed the<br />
tailoring course. Presently, stitching classes for 30 ladies <strong>and</strong> embroidery classes for 23 ladies are<br />
being conducted at Mogappair <strong>and</strong> Royapurarn.<br />
Sports Day was organised for Tatrakshikas at Mogappair <strong>and</strong> Royapuram. Ladies <strong>and</strong> children<br />
of Eastern Region participated in cultural program during the Silver Jubilee Celebration of ICG Aviation<br />
at Daman in May 07 <strong>and</strong> bagged first <strong>and</strong> the third prizes. President Tatrakshika (East) felicitated 07<br />
children for their outst<strong>and</strong>ing achievement in the field of sports, education <strong>and</strong> literature, etc. In Aug 07,<br />
the Annual Regional Tatrakshika Milan was held at DHQ-5, Chennai. The Presidents of various District<br />
Headquarters <strong>and</strong> committee members of Chennai were present <strong>and</strong> discussed the agenda points.<br />
The meeting was presided over by the President Tatrakshika (East). The President Tatrakshika<br />
(Mrs Thrity Contrac<strong>to</strong>r) during her visit <strong>to</strong> Chennai on 03 Sep 07, inaugurated a beauty parlor at<br />
Royapuram complex. In Sep 07, another beauty parlor was inaugurated by President Tatrakshika<br />
(East) Mrs Urmila Singh at Mogappair.<br />
During Oct 07, 165 CG children along with committee members <strong>and</strong> CGWWA Co-coordina<strong>to</strong>rs<br />
visited the Tank Fac<strong>to</strong>ry at Avadi. Various tank exercises were demonstrated by the Army personnel.<br />
Lunch <strong>and</strong> gifts were given <strong>to</strong> all children <strong>to</strong> mark the children’s day celebration.<br />
SANCHITA<br />
Different items like table cloth, cushion covers, diwan sets, fridge covers, table runners, night<br />
gowns, napkins were stitched by the tatrakshikas <strong>and</strong> sold at reasonable prices during the coffee<br />
mornings <strong>and</strong> in the welfare centre.<br />
SANJEEVAN<br />
During Jan 07, a medical camp was organised at Mogappair in which blood pressure, sugar<br />
levels, throat <strong>and</strong> ear infection, etc. were checked by a team of experienced doc<strong>to</strong>rs. A <strong>to</strong>tal of 250<br />
ladies <strong>and</strong> children were examined. 14 ladies diagnosed for high blood pressure were referred for<br />
