Tailoring, Beauty Treatment <strong>and</strong> Machine Embroidery courses were conducted in the Welfare<br />

Centre.<br />

A painting competition, poem recitation <strong>and</strong> a fancy dress competition were conducted for children<br />

<strong>to</strong> remove stage fright <strong>and</strong> encourage their self – confidence.<br />

SNEHA<br />

As part of its philanthropic activities, CGWWA regularly conducts activities in coordination with<br />

various Non Governmental Organisations. The activities range from sponsoring childrens' education<br />

<strong>to</strong> conducting educational lectures.<br />

CGWWA is sponsoring the tuition fees of one poor child named Janiab Khan studying in Nursery<br />

class in the Jingle Bells Kindergarten for the academic session 2007–08.<br />

CGWWA, along with CRY India, an NGO, under<strong>to</strong>ok the task of distribution of rations <strong>to</strong> slum<br />

areas of Port Blair. 50 children up <strong>to</strong> age of one year were targeted <strong>and</strong> were provided with nutritious<br />

diet (Cerelac).<br />

Children from the Multiple Rehabilitation Centre demonstrated their talents like singing, dancing,<br />

skit, etc on Doordharsan, Port Blair. This event was co-ordinated by CGWWA.<br />

An awareness programme on “Personal Hygiene & Aids”. was conducted for domestic servants<br />

employed in CG Residential Area.<br />

SRISHTI<br />

CGWWA organised the Green India Drive on 08 Jul 07 under which massive drive for tree<br />

plantation was conducted in different areas in <strong>Coast</strong> <strong>Guard</strong> Enclave. The Best Courtyard competition<br />

was conducted in the month of Oct 07 in which the ladies participated enthusiastically.<br />

SURAKSHA<br />

CGWWA is also looking after the widows of the CG personnel by providing them annual monetary<br />

support for their school going children.<br />

SANJEEVANI<br />

CGWWA conducts regular health workshops <strong>and</strong> lectures. These include lecture on snake bite<br />

<strong>and</strong> elaborate demonstration on the actions <strong>to</strong> be taken as part of the first aid in case of snake bite. An<br />

exhaustive display of pictures <strong>and</strong> slides formed part of the lecture <strong>and</strong> the information imparted was<br />

appreciated by one <strong>and</strong> all. Besides this, lectures on general health, h<strong>and</strong>ling of children, AIDS <strong>and</strong><br />

personal hygiene were also conducted during the year.<br />
