All in all <strong>Borussia</strong> <strong>Dortmund</strong> increased income from Bundesliga ticket sales from<br />

EUR 23.50m to EUR 24.51m yoy.<br />

Ticket sales DFB-Pokal<br />

The DFB-Pokal or DFB Cup is a German football cup competition run by the<br />

Deutscher Fußball-Bund (DFB, German Football Association) since 1935. 64 teams<br />

participate in the competition, including all clubs from the Erste Bundesliga and<br />

Zweite Bundesliga (36 teams) and 28 clubs from lower leagues. The competition is<br />

held annually between August and July (of the following year) and is considered the<br />

second most important national title in German football after the Bundesliga<br />

championship. The winner is determined via knock out system and qualifies for the<br />

DFL-Supercup and the UEFA Europa League (unless the winner already qualifies<br />

for the UEFA Champions League). Bayern Munich has won the most titles with 15<br />

victories while the most recent winner is <strong>Borussia</strong> <strong>Dortmund</strong>.<br />

In this competition net income from ticket sales is divided (50:50) amongst the two<br />

opposing teams, after subtracting the expenses of the stadium. In the past financial<br />

year, <strong>Borussia</strong> <strong>Dortmund</strong> recognized income of EUR 1.89m from ticket sales for<br />

DFB Pokal matches.<br />

Ticket sales UEFA Champions League<br />

The UEFA Champions League is a continental club football competition organized<br />

by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) since 1955 for the top<br />

football clubs in Europe (before 1992, the tournament was officially called the<br />

"European Champion Clubs' Cup"). Annually, it begins in mid-July with three<br />

knockout qualifying rounds and the final match in May the next calendar year.<br />

According to the number of television viewers, it is the most prestigious club<br />

competition in European football. The tournament consists of several stages and<br />

32 teams. The winner of the UEFA Champions League qualifies for the UEFA<br />

Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.<br />

In 2011/12 <strong>Borussia</strong> <strong>Dortmund</strong> competed in the UEFA Champions League and<br />

generated income of EUR 4.35m from international ticket sales of three home<br />

matches (home team receives 100% of income from the ticket sales). In<br />

international matches no standing places are allowed. The tribunes will be<br />

equipped with seats, therefore only up to 65,829 fans can watch the matches.<br />
