The record of achievement written by the enrolled <strong>Scholars</strong> and Fellows continues to<br />

make us proud. The <strong>2010</strong> graduating class included 15 members selected to live on the<br />

Lawn, the chair and a vice chair of the Honor Committee, the student representative<br />

to the Board of Visitors, the recipient of the Ernest H. Ern Outstanding Student award,<br />

the president of the Student Council, the president of the Inter-Fraternity Council, the<br />

Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award recipient, and the president of the Class of <strong>2010</strong>. Among<br />

WHEREAS, in accepting chairmanship of the <strong>Jefferson</strong> <strong>Scholars</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong> Richard<br />

C. Kellogg Jr. set out to achieve dual objectives of improving the <strong>Foundation</strong>’s governance<br />

and building the <strong>Foundation</strong>’s new home, and<br />

WHEREAS, under Rick’s untiring leadership the <strong>Foundation</strong> has effected an<br />

agreement with the Alumni Association which will greatly improve the <strong>Foundation</strong>’s<br />

governance, and<br />

WHEREAS, as a direct result of Rick’s vision, perseverance, and commitment the<br />

<strong>Foundation</strong> has successfully financed and built the <strong>Foundation</strong>’s new home and center<br />

for its graduate fellows, and<br />

WHEREAS, his vision for the <strong>Jefferson</strong> Fellows Center inspired the creation of a<br />

physical space that will foster academic excellence and interdisciplinary conversation of<br />

the highest order, and<br />

WHEREAS, he has always and consistently led the <strong>Foundation</strong> with exceptional grace,<br />

humility, and wisdom, and<br />

WHEREAS, he has always and consistently placed the interests of the <strong>Jefferson</strong><br />

<strong>Scholars</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong> ahead of any competing forces or other distractions, and<br />

WHEREAS, and foremost, he personally represents the highest ideals of leadership,<br />

scholarship, and citizenship, now therefore the Board of Directors of the <strong>Jefferson</strong><br />

<strong>Scholars</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong> hereby extends to Richard C. Kellogg Jr. its enduring gratitude and<br />

admiration for a job exceedingly well done.
