ITA 101-102—Elementary Italian<br />

3 cr.<br />

For beginners. A basic course in grammar,<br />

punctuation, conversation, and reading.<br />

Contemporary Italian culture is discussed. (GE 9)<br />

ITA 201—Intermediate Italian 1<br />

3 cr.<br />

This course increases students' ability to use the<br />

language through advanced grammar study and<br />

continued reading, writing & speaking. Students do<br />

basic review, then study more complex patterns, verb<br />

tenses, including subjunctive. Reading, writing and<br />

speaking focus on contemporary Italian culture and<br />

events.<br />

Prerequisite: ITA 102 or instructor placement<br />

ITA 202—Intermediate Italian 2<br />

3 cr.<br />

This course continues to focus on reading, writing,<br />

speaking related to contemporary Italian cultural<br />

issues. Advanced grammatical structures, including<br />

passive and subjunctives, are presented. Particular<br />

emphasis on idiomatic expressions and advanced<br />

conversational fluency.<br />

Prerequisite: ITA 201 or instructor placement<br />
