Book features Project Artemis graduate
Anew book by foreign policy analyst Gayle
Tzemach Lemmon tells the story of 2005 Project
Artemis graduate Kamela Sediqi, an Afghan
businesswoman who struggled to support her
six brothers and sisters during the rise of the Taliban. “The
Dressmaker of Khair Khana” grew out of the author’s trip
to Kabul in December 2005, shortly after Sediqi returned
from Thunderbird’s inaugural two-week course for Afghan
women entrepreneurs. The book describes Sediqi’s launch
of a home-based dressmaking business that eventually offered
work to about 100 neighborhood women.
