Key Features – No rare species or exceptional natural communities were present
on this site. However, a sandhill crane was foraging in the open grassy area beneath the
power lines just off the site to the north. Roughly half the site is a golf course community.
Importance – There are no outstanding natural resources at this site. However,
this site contains about 200 undeveloped acres that would be a nice block of natural
habitat within an increasingly developed area.
Connectivity – Greater than a half mile from existing conservation lands.
Proximity to Urban Areas – Site is within the city of Port St. Lucie.
Proximity to primary and secondary roads – Within 500 feet of a major roadway.
Hydrology – There are numerous ditches that drain the Mesic Flatwoods. The
Basin Marshes appear hydrologically intact.
