6.1 Quality<br />

were from Shah faisal town. Bin Qasim town on the other hand fall under the category of highest<br />

% of people having income group in between Rs.10, 000-30,000. Nazimabad is having the<br />

highest % for above 30,000 incomes. No respondent fall in the category of below Rs.10, 000 from<br />

Nazimabad and Gulshan towns and above Rs.30, 000 from Kemari, Shah Faisal and Malir towns.<br />

In case of using public transport among 180 respondents from 9 towns, 56.6% use public<br />

transport on daily basis. How ever, a significant 70% of the respondents from saddar town use<br />

public transport on weekly basis, this could probably be due to their work places near vicinity.<br />

In Kemari town 45% of the respondents do not own a single vehicle, no respondent found who do<br />

not have any vehicle from saddar and Nazimabad and Gulshan towns. In Malir town every<br />

respondent is having at least one vehicle. Highest % of respondents having more than 2 vehicles<br />

was from Nazimabad and Gulshan towns.<br />

78% of the respondents are not satisfied with the service offered by current transport system only<br />

22 % give a positive result. Among the students and business professionals, 80 % are not satisfied<br />

with the performance of existing transport system of Karachi, 5% are satisfied while the rest are<br />

not sure about the performance.<br />

63% of the people responded that the Karachi public transport buses in which they travel daily are<br />

over loaded and 33 % people replied that they are overloaded occasionally.<br />

26 % people who responded have an opinion that through public transport buses they are not able<br />

to reach their destination safely on time, 41% said that only some time they are able to reach<br />

safely on time while only 33 % people have a positive response but that is also dependent on<br />

some particular routes and during particular timings.<br />

56% people of Karachi have an opinion that a new private public partnership CNG buses will<br />

provide them a better service rather than existing transport system and 36 % people‘s opinion is<br />

may be and rest of 8% people opine that it will not provide them a good quality service.<br />

60 % people are not happy with the performance of existing transport system of Karachi and 19<br />

% people are in favor of the today‘s transport System while the 21% public responded that some<br />

time satisfied with its performance.<br />

6.2 Availability<br />

26 % people responded that buses are available on time, 47 % people responded that sometime it<br />

is available on time and the 27 % people responded that the buses are not at all available on time.<br />

Mostly people responded that the buses pick up the passenger from anywhere, even in between<br />

the roads. Only 16 % responded that buses carry them from the bus stop.<br />

49 % people responded that buses are not available 24 hours a day, 35 % people don‘t have any<br />

idea about that.<br />

Mostly people responded that buses are available in their areas but 18 % people responded that<br />

they don‘t have any transport facility available in their area and the 19 % responded that some<br />

time the buses are available.<br />

48 % people are not satisfied with the timing between the two buses (i.e. time headway), 38 % are<br />

satisfied sometime and the rest of people are satisfied with the timing between the two buses.<br />

6.3 Infrastructure<br />

Mostly people responded that area where they reside is developed and 25 % people responded<br />

that area where they reside is not developed.<br />
