Chief Wildlife Warden Uttaranchal, were not able to attend the workshop but provided support and<br />
advice at various stages of the process.<br />
Shri Jigmet Takpa, Regional Wildlife Warden, Leh, Shri Salim-ul-Haq, Wildlife Warden,<br />
Leh, and Shri N.C. Kala, DFO, Leh, and their officers and staff put in a lot of effort in organizing the<br />
workshop. Shri Farooq Geelani, and Shri Naseer Kitchloo, Regional Wildlife Wardens of Kashmir<br />
and Jammu, Dr. Mir Mansoor, Chief Wildlife Veterinarian, Shri Bashir A. Mir, Accounts Officer,<br />
Mrs. Ifshan Dewan and Shri Mushtaq Ahmad Parsa, Shri Rouf Zargar, and Shri Intisar Suhail,<br />
Wildlife Wardens of the department rendered valuable assistance in managing the workshop.<br />
At NCF, we are immensely grateful to Shri G.V. Reddy of the Indian Forest Service, whose<br />
insightful advice and critical role in this process right from its inception can not be overemphasized.<br />
Similarly, we wish to place on record our gratitude to Dr. A.J. T. Johnsingh, Eminent Wildlife<br />
Biologist of NCF for his constant support and advice. Shri P.R. Sinha, WII, is thanked not only for<br />
his presence and guidance during the national workshop, but also for facilitating Dr. Johnsingh’s<br />
involvement in the process while he was still at WII.<br />
The foundation for the national workshop was laid during the five state level workshops<br />
conducted over the last two years, and we take this opportunity to thank the PCCFs, Chief Wildlife<br />
Wardens, and officers of all the states who participated in the workshops. We are particularly grateful<br />
to Shri T.R. Poudel (Sikkim), Dr. C.M. Seth (Jammu & Kashmir), Shri A.K. Gulati (Himachal<br />
Pradesh), Shri S. Chandola (Uttaranchal), Shri B.S. Sajwan (Arunachal Pradesh), and Shri R.L.<br />
Bharati (Jammu & Kashmir) for facilitating the process. The other officers who played important<br />
roles in organizing the state workshops included Shri Sanjeeva Pandey (Himachal Pradesh), Shri<br />
Thomas Chandy (Sikkim), Shri Sandeep Tambe (Sikkim), Shri Pekyom Ringu (Arunachal Pradesh),<br />
and Shri Naseer Kitchloo (Jammu & Kashmir). We also gratefully acknowledge the contributions<br />
of Dr. G.S. Rawat, WII, to the workshop in Uttaranchal, Dr. Aparajita Datta, NCF, in Arunachal<br />
Pradesh, Dr. R.S. Chundawat, ISLT, in Jammu & Kashmir, and Dr. M.D. Madhusudan, NCF, to<br />
the initial workshop in Mysore.<br />
