The permanent strain caused by the moving load was about the triple compared to the<br />

strain caused by a stationary cyclic load in measurements taken from the surface <strong>of</strong> the<br />

structure. By comparing the development velocities (Figure 6.5:3) <strong>of</strong> the formation <strong>of</strong><br />

permanent strains we can also note that with the stationary load the permanent strain<br />

grew very slowly after about one thousand loading tests, but with the moving load the<br />

increase <strong>of</strong> permanent strains was continuous. Therefore, the difference between the<br />

loading cases would have been emphasised if the experiment had been continued<br />

(Kolisoja 1993).
