attended the National Workshop on Global Warming and its Implications for <strong>Kerala</strong><br />
during 19-21January 2009 at Trivandrum, <strong>Kerala</strong>. Dr. Seethalakshmi presented two<br />
papers: 'Bamboo Plantations: An Approach to Carbon Sequestration' (Seethalakshmi,<br />
K.K., Jijeesh, C.M. and Balagopalan, M.) and 'Recent Developments in the Bamboo<br />
Sector' (Seethalakshmi, K.K.). Dr. Sujatha presented a paper on 'Strategies for<br />
Enhancing Soil Carbon Sequestration and Productivity of <strong>Forest</strong> Plantations in <strong>Kerala</strong>'.<br />
N. Sasidharan<br />
participated as a resource person in the Training Programme on Capacity Building in<br />
Plant Taxonomy organized by Botanical Survey of India at Coimbatore on 22 January<br />
2009. He gave lectures on 'Computer-aided Identification Packages' and 'Electronic<br />
Checklist on the Flowering Plants of <strong>Kerala</strong>'.<br />
participated in the 21st <strong>Kerala</strong> Science Congress held at Kollam during 29 January -<br />
1 February 2009. He chaired the session on Plant Science.<br />

Engineering, Mala, Thrissur on 3 February 2009 and presented a paper on<br />
'Molecular Methods in Microbial Taxonomy'.<br />

attended the Seminar on Bamboo Development organised by Rajasthan<br />
Horticulture Development Society at Maharana Pratap University of<br />
Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur during 17-18 February 2009. He presented<br />
a paper on 'Management and Preparation of Bamboo Nursery, Plantation,<br />
Cultivation Practices and Harvesting Techniques'.<br />
