scrutinized a project proposal on 'Endangered/Economically Important Species<br />
of Calamus' submitted to Ministry of Science and Technology for funding<br />
and submitted the comments.<br />
o edited a scientific paper for Indian Journal of <strong>Forest</strong>ry.<br />
o supplied the details on the nursery practices of rattan to the DFO, Sreekakulam,<br />
Andhra Pradesh.<br />
P. Rugmini<br />
o delivered two lectures on 'Experimental Designs in <strong>Forest</strong>ry' in the Training Course<br />
on Conventional and Molecular Methods of Tropical Tree Improvement for Higher<br />
Productivity during 17-27 November <strong>2008</strong> supported by ITTO Teak Project.<br />
N. Sasidharan<br />
o participated in the meeting on 22 September <strong>2008</strong>, organized by the Botanical Survey<br />
of India to finalize the list of plants which are on the verge of extinction or likely to<br />
become extinct under section 38 of the Biological Diversity Act 2002. Made a presentation<br />
on the critically endangered species recorded from <strong>Kerala</strong>.<br />
o gave a lecture on plant identification methods to the students and research scholars<br />
of Amala Cancer <strong>Research</strong> Centre, Thrissur, on 19 May <strong>2008</strong>. Also gave lectures<br />
on Computer-aided Tree Identification and Non-Timber <strong>Forest</strong> Produces of<br />
<strong>Kerala</strong> to the <strong>Forest</strong>ers and <strong>Forest</strong> Guards Trainees of <strong>Forest</strong> School, Arippa, on<br />
12 February 2009.<br />
o evaluated the dissertation of M.Sc. Horticulture student, College of Horticulture,<br />
Thrissur and also conducted the viva voce for awarding the Masters Degree.<br />
o identified the plant referred from Department of Botany, Government Victoria<br />
College, Palakkad on 27 September <strong>2008</strong>. Also identified the Plants in the Medicinal<br />
Plants Garden at Chozhiakode, Kulathupuzha as per the request of Dy. Conservator<br />
of <strong>Forest</strong>s (<strong>Research</strong>, South) on 10 February 2009.<br />
o prepared the question paper for written examination for the award of Fellowship<br />
in Botany of the <strong>Kerala</strong> State Council for Science, Technology and Environment,<br />
<strong>Kerala</strong>. Also acted as a member of the board for conducting interview for selection<br />
of candidates for awarding Fellowships on 18 December <strong>2008</strong>.<br />
o participated in the Technical Committee meeting organized by <strong>Kerala</strong> <strong>Forest</strong> Development<br />
Corporation on 2 September <strong>2008</strong> for establishing a Botanical Garden at<br />
Munnar.<br />
