K. Jayaraman<br />
o delivered a lecture on 'Data Needs for Sustainable <strong>Forest</strong> Management' in<br />
the Training Workshop on Collection, Compilation, Validation and Dissemination<br />
of <strong>Forest</strong>ry Statistics for Indian <strong>Forest</strong> Service (IFS) Officers, 21-25 April, <strong>2008</strong>.<br />
E.A. Jayson<br />
o delivered an invited talk entitled 'Avifauna of <strong>Kerala</strong>' to the M.Sc. Wildlife Biology<br />
students of AVC College, Mayiladuthurai, Tamil Nadu on 7 March 2009.<br />
o visited the Thamarassery Range as per the request <strong>Forest</strong> Department and survey<br />
the crop damage in the area and submitted a report to ameliorate the problem<br />
i n Sept. <strong>2008</strong>.<br />
o visited Choolannur Peafowl Sanctuary and surveyed the protected area to advise<br />
the park management on the removal of undergrowth from the Sanctuary. Report<br />
submitted to the Wildlife Warden in December <strong>2008</strong>.<br />
o gave a lecture to teachers at Academic Staff College of Calicut University on 8<br />
January 2009 on 'Human -Wildlife Conflict'.<br />
o offered three classes to the High School Students on the subject 'Animal Diversity<br />
in <strong>Kerala</strong>' who were participating in the camp at Peechi Wildlife Sanctuary during<br />
4 and 30 October <strong>2008</strong>, 3 November <strong>2008</strong> and 4 February 2009.<br />
o took class to the <strong>Forest</strong>ers and Guards who were attending the refresher course<br />
at Arippa <strong>Forest</strong> School, Arippa during 18 November <strong>2008</strong>.<br />
o attended a meeting convened by Hon. Minister for <strong>Forest</strong>s to review the Bird<br />
monitoring programme initiated in the memory of Dr. Salim Ali at Trivandrum<br />
on 12 January 2009.<br />
o Reviewed two scientific papers for the Journal, Indian <strong>Forest</strong>er during August <strong>2008</strong>.<br />

o as a resource person gave a lecture on 'Wood-balance study: Methodology and<br />
Database' in the training course on Collection, Compilation, Validation and Dissemination<br />
of <strong>Forest</strong> Statistics for Indian <strong>Forest</strong> Service Officers during 21- 25 April <strong>2008</strong>.<br />
o as a resource person, to handled a Session on 'Estimation of Bamboo Resource in<br />
Farmlands' as part of the Training for Field Functionaries under the National<br />
Bamboo Mission Bamboo Technical Support Group for South Zone, during 4-<br />
9 August, 21-27 September,12-19 October, 9-16 November, 23-30 November<br />
and 14-20 December <strong>2008</strong>.<br />
