Wave propagation-Soil liquefaction-Susceptibility, initiation and effects <strong>of</strong> soil liquefaction- Laboratory and<br />
Field methods for estimation <strong>of</strong> liquefaction potential-CSR and CRR.<br />
Module –II<br />
Measurement <strong>of</strong> dynamic soil properties-Seismic reflection and seismic refraction tests-Seismic cross hole,<br />
down hole/up hole tests-SPT-High strain element tests-Cyclic tri-axial test-shake table and centrifuge tests.<br />
Module-III<br />
Introduction to bearing capacity and settlement analysis under earthquake loading –<br />
Seismic design considerations- Codal Provisions - Site improvement methods for mitigation <strong>of</strong> earthquake<br />
hazards<br />

Question Paper: Duration:3 hours<br />
The question paper consists <strong>of</strong> Part A and Part B.<br />
Part A carries 40 marks. There will be 8 compulsory short answer questions covering entire syllabus.<br />
Part B is for 60 marks. There will be 2 questions from each module. The candidate has to answer one question<br />
<strong>of</strong> 20 marks from each module.<br />
