Ro<strong>of</strong>s -Design <strong>of</strong> purlins and trusses for dead load, live load and wind loads- rolled steel angle and tubular<br />
sections.<br />

Module II<br />
Steel chimneys-Types <strong>of</strong> chimneys, IS Specifications-Design <strong>of</strong> self supporting chimneys.<br />
Steel bridges –Types <strong>of</strong> bridges, Railway MBG and MMG loading -Design <strong>of</strong> plate girder bridges - Truss girder<br />
bridges (only design concept) -bracings and bearings.<br />
Drawings <strong>of</strong> the structures designed above.<br />

Question paper: Duration : 4 hrs<br />
The question paper consists <strong>of</strong> Part A and Part B.<br />
Part A contains 2 compulsory questions <strong>of</strong> 10 marks each covering entire syllabus.<br />
Part B Answer one out <strong>of</strong> two questions from each module Each question carries 40 marks; 20 marks for design<br />
and 20 marks for drawing.<br />

Tables are permitted.<br />
Note: No other charts, tables, codes are permitted in the Examination hall .If necessary relevant data shall be<br />
given along with the question paper by the question paper setter.<br />
