La semana del 9-20 de julio
será una memorable para
los jóvenes de Alcanzando
el Exito
>> Tom Demenkoff, dramaturgo, actor y director
de Nueva York vendrá a Vieques a donar su talento y
tiempo para producir una obra de teatro. Los estudiantes
participantes de este programa harán de todo,
desde escribir el guión, preparar la escenografía,
actuar, hacer el vestuario, hasta vender los boletos de
entrada. De hecho, ellos harán
lo que sea necesario para llevar
a cabo una obra de teatro de
verdad. La obra será presentada
a los residentes de Vieques y
visitantes la noche del jueves, 19
de julio, en el Hotel W. Las taquillas
estarán a la venta en la puerta,
antes de la obra y su precio es de
$15.00 para residentes y $25.00
para visitantes. La presentación
comenzará puntualmente a las
6:00PM, y lo recaudado será a
beneficio de Alcanzando el Éxito,
organización sin fines de lucro que
enriquece las vidas de los jóvenes
de Vieques.
Uno de los estudiantes
que estará participando de
gran manera es Nelson Timothy Santoni Nieves.
Nelson tiene 16 años y cursa el 11mo grado en
la Escuela Superior Germán Rieckehoff. A pesar
de que dentro de sus pasiones se encuentran
el canto, la actuación y la música, también ha
escrito poesía, creado videos y se ha convertido
en un líder innato dentro del grupo. Nelson dice:
“Alcanzando el Éxito me ha dado la oportunidad
de compartir mis talentos con la comunidad. Le
estoy agradecido por haber ayudado a fortalecer
mi autoestima.” Actualmente dirige, actúa
y produce una película que ha escrito, la cual
está pautada para ser presentada durante este
verano. Entre las personas favoritas de Nelson
se encuentran Cher, Cristina Aguilera, Will Smith
y John Travolta, sin olvidar a su abuelo, abuela y
madre, los cuales han influenciado grandemente
en su persona. Sus planes incluyen estudiar
arte teatral en Nueva York, luego de graduarse el
próximo año y luego de ésto, ¿quién sabe?
Otros estudiantes que merecen reconocimiento y
felicitaciones son los 13 graduandos que participan en
Alcanzando el Éxito y que comenzarán estudios universitarios
durante este otoño en colegios y universidades
en Puerto Rico. Para muchos de ellos, las becas que
reciben de RFS son suficientes para convertir sus sueños
en realidad. Los felicitamos a todos y les deseamos
Éxito en sus proyectos futuros.

July 9-20th will be an
exciting time for the kids
at Reach for Success.
>>Tom Demenkoff, a playwright, actor and director
from New York will be coming to Vieques to donate
his talent and time to produce a play. The students
enrolled in this program will be doing everything from
writing the script, gathering the props, acting, making
the costumes and scenery to marketing the tickets.
In fact, they will be doing whatever it takes to put on
a real play! The play will be shown to Vieques residents
and guests on Thursday
night, July 19th, at the W Hotel.
Tickets will be sold at the door
prior to the performance on a
first come first serve basis, and
are $15.00 for residents and
$25.00 for guests. The show will
start promptly at 6:00PM, and
the proceeds will go to Reach
for Success, a non for profit
organization which enriches the
lives of the youth of Vieques.
One of the students who
will be participating in a big
way is Nelson Timothy Santoni
Nieves. He is 16 years old and
currently an 11th grade student
at the German Rieckehoff High
School in Vieques. Although his
passions include singing, acting and music, Nelson
has also written poetry, created videos and has developed
into a natural leader within the group. Nelson
says, “ Reach for Success has given me a chance to
share my talents with the community. I thank them
for building my self esteem.” He is currently directing,
acting and producing a movie that he has written,
which is scheduled to be shown this summer. Among
Nelson’s favorite role models such as Cher, Christinia
Aguilera, Will Smith and John Travolta, Nelson cites
his grandfather, grandmother and mother as having
influenced him the most. His plans include studying
theatrical art in New York after graduation next year
and after that, who knows?
Other students who deserve kudos and congratulations
are the 13 seniors who are graduates of Reach
For Success and who will be going on to study this fall
at schools throughout Puerto Rico. For many of them,
the scholarships they receive from RFS are enough to
make their dreams come true. We congratulate them
all and wish them Success in their future endeavors.

Ambiental de EU (EPA) y las votaciones de varias asociaciones
a nivel internacional lo catalogan como uno
de los diez mejores hoteles ecológicos del mundo.

completamente independiente de la energía eléctrica
comercial.
Casa Solaris no requiere de combustión de carbón
o petróleo o energía atómica, que de una manera

removed from the commercial electrical grid. Casa
Solaris requires no burning of coal or oil or atomic
energy that in one way or another pollute our environment
and our planet. In this respect a retreat in Casa
Solaris is perfectly “green”.
The three story property features the latest in
light emitting diode (LED) lighting, energy and water
efficient appliances, fans, and plumbing,two 50-gallon
hot water panels and twenty four solar photo
voltaic panels on the roof, a set of large batteries in
the engine room and an inverter that converts the
solar panels’ direct current electricity to our normal
ac electricity. Our guests can safely charge their
