SERVICES: The Safe Haven Museum and Education Center is dedicated to telling the unique and heartwarming story of the Fort
Ontario Emergency Refugee Shelter, which housed 982 WWII refugees from 1944-1946 and the citizens of Oswego who
welcomed them. The museum provides individual and group tours of its exhibit and a library of books and videotaped interviews
for loan, as well as speakers who travel to group sites on request to tell the story of the Shelter. Museum staff collaborate with
staff from schools and other organizations to develop meaningful experiences in exploring diversity and tolerance for groups of all
ages, with special emphasis on school age youth. For more information contact the museum by phone (342-3003) or email
