Extra length straight shank drills
DIN 1869, series 3
Range applications
Manufacturing specifications
HSS
Article no. 81610
Type N
R
For drilling extremely deep holes. Feeds,
speeds and workholding must be carefully
studied to avoid vibration. Frequent
withdrawal of the drill from the hole
(woodpeckering) is vitally important, as is
copious flow of the correct type of coolant.
If tolerances in the hole allow, a greater
depth of penetration can be achieved by
a slightly off-center point grind. Please
note: These drills are not recommended
for the drilling of holes in crankshafts.
Point grinding: relieved cone
Point angle: 118˚
Web thinned: > Ø 2.36 mm to
DIN 1412, form A
Type FN
R
A robust tool for use in difficult drilling
conditions in extremely deep holes when
swarf congestion prevents an adequate
flow of coolant. For use in steels and cast
iron having a tensile strength of up to
1000 N/mm 2 .
Not recommended for nickel-chrome
steels or similar materials.
Point grinding: relieved cone
Point angle: 130˚
Web thinned: to DIN 1412, form A
Helix angle: greater than standard
Web thickness: considerably greater
than standard
Web taper: none
Flute form: very wide flute with special
„rolled-off“ heels
Tolerance on Ø: h8
aluminium alloys, zinc, refined
copper, silumin, electron, zamak,
argalium, soft synthetic materials and
wood.
Point grinding: relieved cone
Point angle: 130˚
Web thinned: > Ø 2.36 mm to
DIN 1412, form A
Helix angle: greater than standard
