Thompson Creek Detailed Flood Reduction Study City of Peterborough The resulting flows were then input to the HEC-RAS model of Thompson Creek to calculate the associated water levels. This steady state simulation is not a full simulation of the effect of a flood wave as that type of dynamic routing is beyond the scope of the current study. However, it does provide an indication of the potential extent of flooding that might occur. Table 4.5.10 shows the simulated flows along Thompson Creek for the two scenarios. Table 4.5.11 shows the resulting water levels. As indicated, in comparison to Tables 4.5.3, 4.5.5, 4.5.6 and 4.5.8, the flows generated by releases from the Thompson Creek Dam could be significantly higher than any of the other rain storm related events considered. Similarly, the resulting water levels would exceed those for any of the rainfall related events centred directly over Thompson Creek. The extent of flooding which could potentially occur is discussed in Section 4.6.1 where the mapping of the extent of the flood plain is described. Because of the very small drainage areas involved, the one hour AES distribution was used. Table 4.5.12 indicates the resulting peak flows for the local drainage systems within the Thompson Creek watershed. Table 4.5.13 shows the resulting peak flows for the local drainage systems which drain directly to the Otonabee River. As part of its output, the 14-06605-01-W01 City of Peterborough 65

This information was used to identify the depth of flow on the streets and in other overland flow swales and spill areas. The extent of local flooding was mapped using that data as described in Section 4.6.2.
