DHL Exel Supply Chain fills logistical needs
in O&G market

Centers (MSC). To implement these
activities in MDC and MSC locations, DHL
Exel SC will manage a staff of over 400
people. DHL Exel SC will also set up a
system enabling the customers of Saudi
Aramco to track the transport of their
orders on the Internet.
“We’re collecting from about 7,000
suppliers on behalf of Saudi Aramco. We
bring that material into MDCs. And we’ll
soon construct four dedicated centers
around the Kingdom. These are
strategically located, purpose-built
facilities. And from there, we take the
material either into storage or we deliver to
the customer. We also have presence inside
the Saudi Aramco facilities at 10 MSCs,”
Wood said.
Although the whole region is full of
activity developing the non-oil sector, the
fact remains that the Middle East is the
proverbial sea of petroleum and mineral
resources. Hence, the market potential for
the oil and gas industry never waned, and
instead, progressed more than ever.

Saudi Aramco and PDO
The world’s leading crude oil producer,
Saudi Aramco, recently contracted DHL
Exel SC to develop its national logistics
infrastructure. This encompasses the
provision, management, and operation of
four Material Distribution Centers (MDC)
Wood also related that DHL Exel Supply
Chain “invested heavily on the
partnership,” in terms of providing
customised services. “We have a fleet of
over a hundred vehicles dedicated to Saudi
Aramco. So far, we have also employed
approximately 370 people specifically for
the project, 75 per cent of which are
Saudis.”

and there is English lesson for everyone.

Starting with the implementation on
January 2007, the transition to steady state
of the DHL-Saudi Aramco partnership
should be complete by July of the same
year.
