Palm Scan is the first palm reader of its kind which identifies
users by their palm print. Launched in the UK by exclusive
distributor Databac Group, Palm Scan offers a state-of-the-art
contactless solution for access control and time and attendance,
for up to 2,100 users. Palm Scan is ultra-reliable, highly secure,
easy to operate and very user-friendly.
Boasting a false negative ratio of less than 0.1 per cent, Palm
Scan is exceptionally efficient. Contactless operation means it
can be mounted in a hermetic terminal (in the case of Palm
Scan Outdoor) for a solution that is vandal-proof, weatherproof
and totally hygienic - an important consideration in crisis
situations like the SARS outbreak. Operation is as simple as
holding the palm up to the reader, with no user training
required, and importantly offering a user-friendly alternative
to more intrusive biometric technologies like iris or facial
recognition.
With prices starting from around £1,000, Palm Scan offers an
affordable solution at the high end of the biometric scale and
comes in at three times cheaper than iris technology.
Laser System enables paperless picking
IPTI, Inc., one the industry's leading innovators in pick-to-light
technology, introduces Laser-Pick(TM), a revolutionary system
that brings "Pick to Light" picking technology to any operation
without the limitations and cost of standard pick-to-light systems.
Rather than paying for expensive electronics at each pick/put
location, Laser-Pick(TM) utilizes high intensity laser beams aimed
at special reflectors that visibly light up like a light bulb to direct
pickers to pick/put locations. The highly visible green laser beam
can service thousands of pick or put locations and can be utilised
where pick-to-light can't at a substantially lower cost per SKU for
fast ROI.
The system, an industry first, utilizes the proven IPTI pick-tolight
hardware and software backbone. Because the laser beam
guides the picker, reflectors can be put anywhere without the
limitations of wiring runs. For operations that must deal with
changes in their layouts this approach is ideal.
As with all IPTI picking systems, Laser-Pick(TM) handles
multiple interfaces including wireless, Ethernet and RS-232 to
manage the pick/put process. It is an excellent companion to
voice recognition and RF Terminal based systems, reducing
picking errors common to those systems while increasing
productivity at the same time.
