Case Study 65
time. The live run started in mid July 2003,”
explained Abu Farha.
Oracle E-Business Suite was put in place in
order to consolidate Juma Al Majid’s
systems for enterprise resource planning
(ERP) and customer relationship
management (CRM) into a single distance.
Oracle then also “installed an array of
financials, HR, and project-management
modules to serve all companies in the
division; and implemented a sharedservices
structure for back-office financial,
human resources, and logistics functions.”
Using Oracle Discrete Manufacturing and
Oracle Project Manufacturing improved
speed and reduced costs of Juma Al Majid
by streamlining and automating
production processes at its concrete
products plant. Oracle also employed
their signature Human Resources to track
skills, competencies, and performance in
support of overall company goal to
develop its skills base and expand its
business portfolio.
In all, Juma Al Majid’s operations gained
overall efficiency and flexibility through
the common systems framework created
on Oracle E-Business Suite. This also
provided Juma Al Majid with visibility
over subsidiary activities and finances, and
support decision-making.
Benefits
According to Abu Farha, all the companies
under Juma Al Majid benefited from the
implementation of the new Oracle
technology. “At the group level, we were
able to close our accounts faster, cleaner,
precisely. We were able to achieve up-tothe-minute
accounting and information
system. There were many areas where we
were able to acquire more functionality like
CRM for example – instead of having
more manpower, we had more systems. We
have now much less people.”
“In areas like inventory optimization, reorder
planning is much precise for the
group level and again for all types of
businesses. The control is much more
powerful because there is a system now.
Collection has been enhanced. Ultimately,
we deliver to the customers on time. Cash
flow is much more optimized and
utilized,” he added.
Abu Farha also cited that Juma Al Majid’s
automotive services now is more
enhanced, using more powerful
interactive tools like e-mail, SMS and the
traditional but improved CRM through
follow up calls. He related, “now that
information is readily available, ROI is
now more evident. The year 2005 was the
golden year for us, hopefully this year we
will exceed again our mark. All this surge
profit is reflected because of good
IT solutions.”
“To sum it up, our automation was one of
the most successful in the Middle East. This
is admitted by many experts and by many
other parties. Several companies have
followed us. Many companies chose Oracle
after our automation,” Abu Farha
concluded.
