RIVERWALK ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT LEARNING EXPERIENCES

This program is designed to directly support the school district’s 6000.1 Student Progression Policy.
“Students experience and value various art disciplines, gain knowledge and understanding about the arts, including personal, historical,
cultural, and social contexts, and acquire perceptual, technical, expressive, intellectual and reflective skills in various art disciplines.”
SEAS Plus is an educational collaboration between the Broward County Public Schools, the Broward Center
for the Performing Arts, and offered at the following Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District cultural sites only:
• Museum of Art • Museum of Discovery and Science • Historic Stranahan House Museum • Fort Lauderdale History Center
Each cultural site provides school day learning opportunities for students that are aligned with
Florida’s Sunshine State Standards, FCAT strategies, and the school district’s number one priority, reading.
IMPORTANT!! SEAS Plus consists of a trip to a SEAS show at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts as well as a visit
to one of the venues listed above which are within walking distance of the Broward Center. All trips must be approved
through the SEAS office and ONLY the venues listed above may be considered for SEAS Plus trips.
SCHEDULING OPTIONS
While there is never a charge to attend a SEAS performance, you are responsible for paying for your admission to
the Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District cultural site as well as the regular hourly bus fee.*
The ONLY dates available for SEAS Plus participation are October 1, 2009 through January 31, 2010.
No other dates will be available. Please see page 52 for scheduling instructions.

The SEAS office will send you a confirmation regarding your SEAS Plus participation along with additional instructions for visiting your
chosen cultural site before or after the performance. Upon receiving your approval, it is then your responsibility to contact
the cultural site to arrange a visit the same day as your scheduled SEAS show.
*REMEMBER...SEAS does not pay for admission to the cultural sites; however, funding is available through the Supplemental Arts and Science Program.
SEAS does not pay for the buses that are part of a SEAS Plus package. Your school will be charged the regular hourly bus rate for all SEAS Plus trips.
Please talk with your bookkeeper about arranging payment to the Riverwalk Arts and Entertainment cultural site you will visit.
