As a matter of fact, while I was obtaining a raffle gift from Oggi’s for the motorcycle run, a gentleman sitting next to me purchased a gift card for to me to use as well. He overheard my conversation and wanted to help support you as well. When I went to buy my Rubio’s lunch in El Cajon, the line that formed was outstanding. Everyone was patient and kind to one another, knowing that the reason they were there was to help a “family member.” I have a correction to make from our September station report. Evidently, we got carried away with excitement and pride of Ashley Stewart’s graduation. It was in fact the Naval Basic Training that she completed. No disrespect intended to those Academy graduates. We’re still heck-a proud of you Ashley! Speaking of people in the Navy, one of our own went up to the Veterean’s Day celebration at Ridgehaven for all our SDSD members who also serve our country in another uniform. Ernest Jones looked pretty spiffy in his “other uniform” as a matter of fact. Kimberly Van Abel’s birthday celebration. When the September station report deadline came around, it was just before the breaking news that another Cajon Zone family will be expecting a new member. Deputy Jimmy Pember and his wife are expecting a little boy bundle in March of 2013. Congratulations on your little addition. Sounds like we’re working on another baseball team—Chi, heard you can coach. Val Finch was in town for a spell. You look wonderful dahling. It is so special to stay in touch with work family—hint, hint Chris, Sherry, and Teresa. We shared a big special day with Kim Van Abel. She has now reached the magic “retire anytime I want to” age. Your looks are not a day over 40 girl! I believe a certain elf is next on the list. Let’s just say we’ve doing our fair share to keep Tiffany busy. Finally, Mark you really are a class act with a heart of gold that is all Kim’s. Thank you from all of us! We have had some additions to our roster out here as well. Rae Costa has made herself very comfortable here in The Zone. I don’t think I ever really welcomed Sgt. Russ Shimmin to the El Cajon field office; sharing his time with other CSB field offices. Sergeant Bill Giltner has joined Ernest Jones shows off his “other uniform” during a ceremony honoring reservists at Ridgehaven. us in the S-2 office, which sometimes tends to be a hot seat, as some of the sergeants haven’t stayed long enough to let the moss grow under their feet. Guess who’s back in the CSB: Lt. Brian Conway, who is also sharing his supervisory skills with other CSB offices. Glad to have you all. Last but definitely not least, I want to mention the efforts of all who participated in the Movember campaign. Here in El Cajon we had two teams going: one from Jim McFarland’s Cross Fit Gym (Cross Fit Pride) and one established by Tony Dillard (El Cajones.) As the teams grew their mustaches and fundraised through November, a recap (with photos) will be in next month’s issue. Thank you to everyone in El Cajon who donated towards our plaque at the Fallen Deputy Memorial at Ridgehaven. Thank you also to the Honorary Deputy Sheriff’s Association who have worked hard to get the funding for this memorial. It is that time of year to give thanks and be giving. We hope you all have a wonderful time creating sweet memories with your loved ones.
