“From this day to the ending of the world,
we in it shall be remembered. We few, we
happy few, we band of brothers. For he
today that sheds his blood with me shall
be my brother.” William Shakespeare,
Eric Ulysses Ramirez Sheriff’s
Department Court Service Officer Eric Ulysses
Ramirez was killed while deployed to Iraq in
2004. As a specialist in the California Army
National Guard, he had been assigned to the
670th Military Police Company. CSO Ramirez
inspired Dep. Frank Gallardo to start the
Military Reserve Program, which supports
deployed deputies and their families before,
during, and after deployment. Deputy Gallardo
enlisted the help of the DSA, which has targeted
fundraising for a Deployed Deputy Program to
help send care packages and support families
as part of the overall reservist program. Photos
from the recent ceremony honoring reservists at
Ridgehaven are on page 13.
