i) PORAC stickers will be available in the DSA store<br />

in December.<br />

in Anaheim.<br />

f) POLITICAL ACTION: Petrachek/Turner<br />

i) Update on election results.<br />

g) SICKNESS AND DISTRESS: Lopez<br />

i) Update on Ali Perez’s condition.<br />

h) INSURANCE: DiCarlo<br />

i) MetLife contract has been updated and all <strong>of</strong> the<br />

changes have been made that the DSA requested.<br />

Board direction to authorize the President to sign<br />

the contract.<br />

ii)<br />

DiCarlo will be meeting with one <strong>of</strong> the administrators<br />

for the CLEA long term disability plan. If anyone has<br />

questions or concerns regarding this plan please let<br />

DiCarlo know.<br />

i) UNIFORM COMMITTEE: Purvis/Garmo<br />

i) Black t-shirts and 511 pants have been approved.<br />

We are again very<br />

pleased to announce<br />

a special Children’s<br />

Scholarship Program<br />

that will be donated by our Long Term Disability insurance<br />

plan administrators, California Administration Insurance<br />

Services, Inc.<br />

Four scholarships will be given in two categories, three<br />

in category one, and one in category two. Category one<br />

applicants must be high school seniors who are enrolled<br />

or planning to enroll in a full-time course <strong>of</strong> study at an<br />

accredited two or four year college, university, or vocationaltechnical<br />

school. Applicants must also have a 3.0 grade point<br />

average on a 4.0 scale. (Three scholarships will be awarded.)<br />

Category two applicants must be sophomores or juniors in<br />

college enrolled in a full-time course <strong>of</strong> study at an accredited<br />

college, university or vocational-technical school. Applicants<br />

must have maintained a 3.0 grade point average during the<br />

first two years <strong>of</strong> college on a 4.0 scale. (One scholarship will<br />

be awarded). Previous recipients are not eligible.<br />

Applicants must be the child <strong>of</strong> a CLEA member who has<br />

been a member for a minimum <strong>of</strong> one year prior to April 1,<br />

2013, or a retired CLEA member who is currently a member<br />

<strong>of</strong> the NPFBA Long Term Care program.<br />

Scholarship distribution will consist <strong>of</strong> $2,000, four awards<br />

<strong>of</strong> $500 each.<br />

Law Enforcement <strong>Association</strong>’s website www.CLEA.org/<br />

scholarship.html or by calling California Administration<br />

Insurance Services, Inc., toll-free at (800) 832-7333. The<br />

application must be completed and postmarked by April 1,<br />

2013.<br />

This is a valuable opportunity to provide your children with<br />

scholarship money in order to help them attain their higher<br />

education goals!<br />

The DSA Scholarship and PORAC Scholarship are also<br />

valuable awards open to children <strong>of</strong> DSA members. More<br />

information about both <strong>of</strong> these programs will be released in<br />

January, but the due dates also fall on or around April 1. If<br />

your child is a high school senior, most scholarships will be<br />

announced in January!<br />
