Located in the Huangpo River Complex district of Pudong,
Shanghai, Tongshan Street combines sustainability and
high quality design in a fabulous new complex designed
by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects. The stunning development
provides over 700 luxury apartments in eight slender
towers, set within exquisite landscaped gardens. An iconic
hotel, a clubhouse, significant areas of retail and leisure
space and extensive underground parking complete the
complex.
Buro Happold on Residential
Buro Happold provided MEP, facade, traffic, sustainability
and structural engineering on the project, which makes
extensive use of high-performance glass and metal,
to create intricately woven facades on the apparently
delicate structures. Inside the buildings, occupants will
enjoy consistently comfortable temperatures, due to our
angular triple glazed facade. Internal spaces are flooded
with sunlight from the south, while providing exceptional
views of the river to the north and the gardens on all sides.
The complex feels like an oasis of calm, its tranquillity
maintained by restricting cars to the edges of the site and
the underground parking areas.
This project both recognises the advancement of this
prosperous region and inspires future growth and
investment, in an area targeted for extensive infrastructure
and urban development over the coming years, with a
luxurious new area for people to live, work and relax.
